Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about calculations, official government slabs, and unit conversions in Pakistan.

Are the salary tax slabs updated for Pakistan FY 2026–27?

Yes, our Salary Tax Calculator reflects the latest Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) progressive tax slabs under the Finance Act 2026–27, including the tax-exempt threshold up to Rs 600,000 annual income and progressive rates up to 35%.

How is Marla calculated in Punjab vs Islamabad & CDA?

In Punjab (Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad) and PLRA land records, 1 Marla equals 272.25 square feet (where 20 Marla = 1 Kanal = 5,445 sq ft). In CDA Islamabad and some modern private housing societies (e.g. DHA, Bahria Town), 1 Marla is standardized at 225 square feet (20 Marla = 1 Kanal = 4,500 sq ft). Our converter allows toggling between both standards.

Should I calculate Zakat using Gold Nisab or Silver Nisab in Pakistan?

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) uses the Silver Nisab threshold (52.5 Tolas / ~612g) for automatic Ramadan savings account deductions because its lower threshold enables more individuals to contribute Zakat. Islamic scholars recommend using Silver Nisab if you hold mixed assets (cash + gold/silver).

What is the difference between Protected and Non-Protected electricity consumers?

Under NEPRA tariff rules, a residential consumer is classified as Protected if monthly electricity usage remained consistently under 200 units for six consecutive months. Non-protected consumers pay higher base per-unit rates and fixed charges once usage exceeds 200 units.
