What is BMI and why it matters in Pakistan

BMI Body Mass Index is weight in kg divided by height in meters squared. In Pakistan, diabetes prevalence is 26 percent highest, and high BMI is major risk. My BMI was 27.3 overweight last year, doctor in Sargodha said for Pakistanis ideal is 18.5 to 23 not 24.9 because Asians have higher body fat at same BMI. I reduced from 78kg to 68kg at 5ft 8in, BMI now 22.7 normal, feeling better.

How to use BMI Calculator Pakistan

  1. Choose unit Feet Inches or CM
  2. Enter weight kg e.g. 70
  3. Enter height 5 ft 8 in or 173 cm
  4. Click result shows BMI category and ideal weight range

Formula

BMI equals weight kg divided by height in meters multiplied by height in meters. Example 70kg, 1.73m equals 70 divided by 2.9929 equals 23.4 Normal. Ideal weight low equals 18.5 multiplied by h2, high equals 24.9 multiplied by h2, ideal equals 22 multiplied by h2.
